Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 July 2026

Beam is a private widget shared between two people. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it.

What we collect

What we do not collect

No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no location data, no contacts. We do not sell or share your data with anyone, and we do not use your content to train machine learning models.

Where it lives

Everything runs on our own servers in Helsinki, Finland, hosted by Hetzner. Metadata is stored in a self-hosted Convex database; photos, videos and audio are stored as files in our own object storage. All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS.

Who else is involved

That is the complete list.

Who can see your content

Only you and the person you are paired with. Media files are served through short-lived signed links that expire, so a link cannot be shared onward indefinitely. Our staff do not read your content except when strictly necessary to investigate a report or a technical fault.

How long we keep it

Your content is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Deleting your account from within the app removes your profile, your content and your pairing data; deleted media files are purged from object storage shortly afterwards. If a past pairing has ended, its content stays isolated from any new pairing.

Your choices

Children

Beam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
